2011 Spring Trends
Whites and Naturals are always popular for spring and summer. But guess what? For Spring 2011 they are the shades (or, non-shades!) of the moment. The hottest hues to pair with the neutrals are pink, orange, yellow and blue. Not just any pink, orange, yellow, or blue...this season, classic bright colors are a more interesting way to jazz up the ordinary. Look for raspberry pink, citrus orange, warm buttery yellow, and cobalt blue to add depth of color to your wardrobe.
Dresses in all colors and prints are just the thing to wear morning, noon or night. You’ll see everything from pretty ruffles, feminine & draping, pretty eyelet and sexy off the shoulder styles along with Jackie O. sheaths and Mad Men looks. Due to the strong Military trend, the Shirtdress is an important style in shades of khaki, olive and denim. Unfortunately, there is still a shortage of dresses with sleeves, but there is an abundance of crop jackets, cardigans, boleros and wraps to cover the arms.
Stripes are a major trend of the Spring/Summer 2011 season, this spring look for crisp dominant stripe combinations in tops and for those wanting to be a little more subtle but still on trend, choose striped scarves, layering tanks, and even shoes to give a salute to the stripe trend.
Asymmetrical hem, shirttail hem, tapered hem or cutaway….whatever you wish to label it, the basic fact remains: skirts, dresses and tunic tops cut longer in the back continue to make their way from the runway into the stores. These hems fill the void between the mini and midi or between midi and maxi. They cover, yet they expose and are a simple way to freshen up your wardrobe with a new cut. Worn with a pair of leggings, and a pair of ballet flats you will be oh so comfortable!
Motorcycle Chic…. As of spring 2011 the military fashion trend will have been
with us for over a decade. And for that decade it's been great, we've loved it, but 10 years later we have to admit: spring 2011 is the time to move on. The question is: what do we move on to? The answer: the trend that's been living in its shadow, waiting for its moment of glory. And for spring 2011 it's going to get just that because here comes the Biker Trend. Look for the return of leather jackets, zipped sleeves and quilted details, skinny leg pants and flat boots.
Feminine tops decorated with ruffles, tiers, rouching, lace, crochet and draping are on trend this season as are slouchy pocket and “racerback” tank details.
Lightweight and sheer knits dominate the market as well as crinkle and eco-friendly fabrics. Look for “Tresses” or a tunic/dress , a multi-purpose top that looks great alone or worn over slim pants or leggings.
Bottoms such as the ankle length, crop, Capri and city shorts still prevail. Skirts are slim or full, long or short, the emphasis is on choosing the style that is best suited to your body type and coordinates best with the top choice.
Accessory Trends Try a smaller handbag worn across the body, or a make an investment in a satchel handbag. Other popular accessories include large pendant or collar necklaces, stacked bangles, and silk scarves worn as headbands. Lastly, have fun at your next party wearing a large cocktail ring adorned with colorful stones! |
